o   The app, Musicolet, this app: Refers to the software (application) named Musicolet (also known as Musicolet Music Player) whose package name is “in.krosbits.musicolet”, and it is built for Android based operating system and Android based virtual environments, built by Krosbits and distributed via the website “Krosbits.in/musicolet” and all other platforms whose links are mentioned in “Krosbits.in/musicolet”.

o   We, Krosbits, the developers: Refers to the proprietorship firm named Krosbits which is based in India, owned by Maulik Raviya and has developed this software and managing it.

o   You, the user: Refers to the user who is using this software and consuming the services provided by it.

o   The device: Refers to a physical/virtual device running on Android based operating system, and in which this app (Musicolet) is installed.

o   The operating system: Refers to Android based operating system or virtual environment emulating an android based operating system.

o   Folders to scan”: Refers to Folders in the device, for which user have granted the permission to the app, and in which the app will scan for audio files and media files related audio-playing functionality. User can control this from App > Menu > Settings > Song library and tags > “Folders to scan”.

o   Audio files: Refers to Files stored in “Folders to scan” which contains audio data encoded in various forms such as Mp3, M4a, Flac, Wav, etc.

o   Media files related audio-playing functionality: Refers to JPG and PNG files stored in “Folders to scan” containing the AlbumArt (cover photo of track/album), LRC files stored in “Folders to scan” (containing the Lyrics).

 

General

Musicolet is developed and being managed by Krosbits which is a proprietorship firm based in India and owned by Maulik Raviya.

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") aims to describe which data and information are obtained and collected from users and how they are used and disclosed.

By using Musicolet, you agree that the data and information mentioned in this Policy will be handled, processed and disclosed as described in this Policy.

 

Personal and Sensitive Information

This app does not collect any personal and sensitive information such as personally identifiable information, financial and payment information, authentication information, phonebook, contacts, device location, SMS and call related data, inventory of other apps on the device, microphone, camera, and other sensitive device or usage data.

 

Data which are collected by this app

o   This app collects the following data:

·       Path and name of audio files stored in the internal storage of the device, and stored on other storage devices (such as SD card) attached to it.

Users have full control on ‘which folders containing the audio files are read?’. User can control this from App > Menu > Settings > Song library and tags > “Folders to scan”.

·       Data read from the ‘Media files related audio-playing functionality’ in the same folders (“Folders to scan”).

Note: Musicolet does not read any other types of files (non-media files, or media files which is not relevant to its audio-playing functionality. Musicolet does not read any files contained in the folder which is not listed in “Folders to scan”.

·       Metadata tags of the audio files (such as Title, Artists, Album, Album arts, Duration etc.)

·       Device’s model name and manufacturer.

·       Version of android operating system.

·       Version of Musicolet.

·       Other similar (Non-Personal and Non-Sensitive) data required for the various functionalities of the app. Data such as (but not limited to) device screen size, device orientation, media volume, audio route (by which speaker/device the audio is being played), etc.

 

o   How these data are used?

This data is used to create and maintain a music (audio) library locally on the device, to play audio, and for the various other functionalities of the app.

 

o   Where these data are stored?

These data are stored in a private folder in the device. (Location of this folder is decided by the operating system). Other apps do not have access to this folder.

These collected data are permanently deleted when the app is uninstalled or when the user clears app data from device’s settings.

o   Sharing and disclosing of these data:

Musicolet does not share these data with any other apps, services, person or organization.

 

 

Data generated by this app

o   Audio library and playback related data:

Includes (but not limited to): Queues, Playlists, Favourites created by the user in the app, Play-counts (how many times an audio file is played), Last played position of songs, Settings and options changed by the user.

·       How these data are used?

This data is used to provide more personalized experience in the app.

·       Where these data are stored?

These data are stored in a private folder in the device. (Location of this folder is decided by the operating system). Other apps do not have access to this folder.

These collected data are permanently deleted when the app is uninstalled or when the user clears app data from device’s settings.

·       Sharing and disclosing of these data:

Musicolet does not share these data with any other apps, services, person or organization.

 

o   Logs data and crash details for debugging:

App collects logs data by using Android’s “Log-Cat” system, when app runs into an error (crash), or when user explicitly ask for it (by using “Report bugs” feature given in the app or by other methods suggested by the developers when debugging or diagnosing bugs or problems).

These data contain a log of system messages, including stack traces when the device throws an error and debug messages which were written by the app while user performs various action in the app. These data contain logs and information from 1) Musicolet app and 2) the process (Virtual machine) running the app only.

These data do not contain logs from other apps. These data do not contain any Personal and Sensitive Information.

 

·       How these data are used?

This data is used to debug and fix the problems, crashes and bugs found in the app.

·       Where these data are stored?

These data are stored in plain text files in the internal storage of the device.

·       Sharing and disclosing of these data:

This app does not (and cannot) transmit/send these data to developers by its own. Thus, if users want to help the developers fixing some bugs/crash, Users have to send them to the developers manually via email or by other methods suggested by developers.

 

 

o   Manual Backups and Automatic backups:

 

A feature of Musicolet provides users an ability to back up their Playlists, Favorites, Playback history (recently played, play-counts) and Settings in the form of a ZIP file (referred as ‘Backup file’ or ‘Backup’). User can later restore these data (Playlists, Favorites, Playback history and Settings) later from these backup files after the app’s re-installation on same or different device, or whenever they wish to. Users can manually create backups.

 

Musicolet also offers an option to create automatic backups (this option is enabled by default and can be disabled from App > Settings > Backup and restore > Automatic backups).

 

These backup files do not contain any Personal and Sensitive Information.

·       How these data are used?

These backup files can be used to restore Playlists, Favorites, Playback history and Settings on same/different device.

·       Where these data are stored?

Manual backup files are stored in the internal storage of the device by default. (Exact path can be seen in the app). In android 4.4+, users can create them in any folder they want. Automatic backup files are stored in the internal storage of the device by default. (Exact path can be seen in the app.) Users have option to change it to any folder they want.

·       Sharing and disclosing of these data:

This app does not (and cannot) send these backup files by its own. If users want, they can send/share these backup files manually by using 3rd party apps.

 

 

Interaction with other apps and services

In order to provide some specific functionalities (mentioned below), Musicolet interacts with the following apps and services if they are installed on the device:

o  Cast Plug-in for Musicolet:

·       “Cast Plug-in for Musicolet” (referred as “Cast Plug-in”) is an app developed by Krosbits, which enabled Chromecast functionality in Musicolet.

·       Musicolet can only interacts with Cast Plug-in when user has installed it on the device.

·       Musicolet interacts with Cast Plug-in to provide these functionalities: Chromecast.

·       Musicolet does not send any Personal and Sensitive Information to this Cast Plug-in.

·       Musicolet does not receive any Personal and Sensitive Information from this Cast Plug-in.

·       Read the privacy policy of Cast Plug-in.

 

o   Google Play Services:

o   ‘Google Play Services’ is a system app pre-installed in those android devices which comes with other Google’s apps pre-installed (apps like Play Store).

o   Musicolet can interact with Google Play Services if it is installed on the device.

o   Musicolet interacts with Google Play Services to provide these functionalities: In-app purchases and Chromecast.

o   Read the privacy policy of Google Play Services.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. This policy is effective as of 2021-08-10.
